Bearers
Prolong the life of your shed by raising it up on tanalised bearers. These 3” x 3” pressure-treated timbers allow additional air circulation under your building thus protecting your floor joists and floorboards during wet weather.
Toughened Glass
This is an ideal optional extra when footballs and garden toys are flying around in the garden! Toughened glass can still break but if it does it breaks into tiny squares rather than sharp shards. This is more of a safety feature rather than a security feature. 3mm glass is fitted as standard.
Spray Painted Sheds
Your new shed can be spray-painted in a range of 18 different colours. The building gets factory dipped in the standard way; it will then receive 2 coats of Teknos spray paint to give it a beautiful finish. You can have the building painted all in one colour or choose a primary colour for the main body of the shed and a secondary colour for the fasciae, door and trim. A 125mm touch-up tin of your chosen colour(s) is supplied with the building.
Tanalised Buildings
To complement our range of factory dip-treated sheds and spray-painted sheds we offer a tanalised timber option using genuine Tanalith product which gives an anti-fungal rot guarantee of 15 years. We strongly recommend having the optional 3x3 Tanalised Bearers when specifying a Tanalised Shed. N.B. Tanalised buildings still need a coat of timber treatment annually to protect from the elements.
Heavy Duty Shelving
3 tiers of 18” deep shelves can be fitted into most buildings at a height / length to suit you. Supplied un-treated, installed at the same time as your new shed.
Building Made To Go Through Doorway
Some larger sheds, when manufactured in the standard way have components that will not fit through a doorway with restricted height clearance. These larger buildings can be manufactured in smaller components if necessary if access to the garden is an issue.
Felt Roof Tiles
Available in 4 different colours, this is a popular addition for playhouses and summerhouses but is also available on sheds.
Colours available are – Black, Red, Green or Brown.
Cedar Slatted Roof
A lovely addition, cedar-clad roofing slats will enhance the appearance of any building. The roof is felted as standard underneath the cedar slats.
Extra High Building
Increase the height of your shed as required by specifying additional boards in the walls.
Verandahs
Enhance the appearance of your building by adding a verandah to the front. Either 2’6” deep or 4’0”, the 4ft verandah has front returns. Available on apex roof sheds only.
Jig Alteration
If a non-standard sized shed is required then a jig alteration will be charged. For example an 8x5 shed will be charged as an 8x6 plus a jig alteration charge. This is also chargeable for non-standard door and window positions.
Partition
Sheds can be split by specifying a partition, use one section for garden tools and another for children’s garden toys and bikes for example. The price includes an additional shed door; this can go within the partition or elsewhere in the outside walls of the shed.
Premium Top-Hung Window
A large window with top-hung opener, comes with standard 3mm glass.
Perspex
For safety reasons the standard 3mm glass can be replaced by Perspex widows.
Leaded Windows
For that added country-cottage effect, change standard glass to diamond leaded windows.
Double Doors
Convert a standard single door to a pair of double doors. Choose from 4ft, 5ft or 6ft wide.
Stable Door
Shed doors can be split in half horizontally to create a stable door. Standard on the Potting Shed.
Additional Shed Door
Add a second door to your shed as required. The second door will be the same specification as the door that is standard to that particular building i.e. Supreme, Heavy Duty or Ryton specification.
Security Bolted Hinges
Some of the T-hinge screws are removed and replaced by small coach bolts. When fitted, the door cannot be removed by undoing the screws on the hinges.
Security Pad Lock Protector
The padlock protector folds across the closed door and the padlock* is clicked on from underneath. This option can only be specified if the security bolted hinges are selected. *padlock not supplied.

What is the delivery lead time?
This can vary depending on the time of year. The current lead time is approx. 10 weeks, having a spray-painted building adds an extra week to the waiting time.
We keep some standard Apex sheds in stock if you require a shed urgently; 6x4, 7x5 & 8x6, we only install these locally though.
What is included in the price?
All prices include delivery, installation and VAT. Delivery restrictions may apply; see the Delivery Information tab for more details.
Has the timber on my new shed been treated?
Yes, the buildings are fully submerged in the dip-tank at the factory. They are treated with a Protek water-based treatment product in 'Red Cedar' colour. We recommend that the sheds are further treated with a quality timber treatment on an annual basis.
Can you provide an installation service?
Yes, it is included in the price. There are sometimes discounts available for delivery only.
Are the shed dimensions internal or external?
The dimensions given are external and in most instances are full Imperial measurements. When measuring, please allow for roof overhang.
What base do i need for my wooden shed?
A flat, level slab or concrete base, the same size as the shed as a minimum or ideally, slightly larger. Take care when laying a base near to a boundary fence or wall, please bear in mind that all sheds have side and rear roof overhang. If you need to know the overhang dimensions please ask for details. Wooden decking also makes an ideal base providing it is flat, level and of sufficient size.
What kind of access do i need to my base?
Please consider the dimensions of your shed when ordering. Some of the larger buildings require 8ft height access for some of the sections to be carried to the base. We do not take buildings over garage roofs, high fences, walls etc. If necessary, sheds can be custom made in smaller components so they can fit through a restricted access; this carries a 12% surcharge.
Does my new shed come with a timber floor and roof felt?
Yes it does. All of our sheds come with a 12mm tongue & groove floor and standard green mineral felt. These can be up-graded to an 18mm T&G floor and premium polyester roof felt if you wish. The Super Heavy Duty Ryton comes with the 18mm floor and premium roof felt as standard.
Is a tanalised shed maintenance free?
No it's not. A tanalised building will still require on-going treatment, probably not as much maintenance and care will be required compared to the standard dipped treatment though. Our tanalised buildings are made from timber that has been pressure-impregnated with the chemical 'Tanalith E', also known as the tanalising process. This gives the timber an anti-fungal rot guarantee but the timber will still need to be protected from inclement weather, ideally once a year with a good quality garden building treatment.
What are the payment terms for wooden sheds?
We take a 15% deposit if the shed is ordered in person at our premises and the balance is payable to the installers either in cash, BACS transfer or by credit / debit card. On-line orders are paid in full at the point of order.
What guarantee do I get with my building?
12 month guarantee against leakage, door sticking, lock failing etc. As timber is a natural product we recommend that you treat your shed within 3 months of installation and once a year thereafter.
Can you make made to measure buildings?
Yes we can, within reason, as long as the shed is square or rectangular. If you require a 9’x 4’ or 10’x 5’ for example, please refer to the next standard size up - 10’x 6’. This will give you a rough idea of price. For an exact price, please contact us. We cannot supply buildings with walls that taper from front to back or that do not have 90 degree corners. Non-standard shed sizes incur a jig-alteration charge.
What size vehicle will my shed be delivered on?
Your shed will be delivered on a Transit sized, flat bed vehicle.
